Hex Coupling Nut

Hex coupling nuts are elongated hexagonal fasteners used to connect two externally threaded components, such as threaded rods, studs, or bolts. Their extended length provides increased thread engagement, ensuring strong and reliable connections in tension applications. Coupling nuts are commonly used for extending rod lengths and joining threaded assemblies in structural and mechanical systems.

Types of Coupling Nuts
  • Standard Hex Coupling Nut: Long hex nut for joining threaded rods
  • Reducing Coupling Nut: Connects rods of different diameters
  • Heavy-Duty Coupling Nut: Thicker walls for high-load applications
  • Stainless Steel Coupling Nut: For corrosion-resistant environments

Applicable Standards

Dimensional Requirements:
  • DIN 6334 – Hex coupling nuts (metric series)
  • ASME B18.2.2 (reference for hex dimensions)
  • ISO 898-2 – Mechanical properties of nuts
  • ASTM A563 / ASTM A194 – Material specifications
Material Grades:
  • Carbon Steel (ASTM A563): General-purpose applications
  • Alloy Steel (ASTM A194 Grades 2H, 8, 8M): High-strength applications
  • Stainless Steel (AISI 304 / 316, ASTM A194 8 / 8M): Corrosion-resistant
  • Special Alloys (Inconel / Nickel Alloys):Extreme temperature and corrosive environments
